Meet the Award Winning Patina Artist
Alberto Suastez
Alberto Suastez, an award winning patina artist originally from Mexico City, has resided in Arizona for the past 25 years. Though he pursued Piano Performance at the University of Arizona, his professional journey has been firmly rooted in finance. Alberto’s artistic patina venture began in 2016 when he bought a pair of shoes in the wrong color, prompting him to experiment with leather dyes. This initial curiosity blossomed into a passion, and over the past eight years, he has completed nearly 1,000 patina jobs for clients across the world.
In 2023, Alberto’s dedication and skill earned him a place in the prestigious World Championship of Shoe Patina in London. His artistry is deeply inspired by the interplay of colors found in nature, a theme that is evident in his meticulous work. Through his unique perspective and creativity, Alberto has made a significant mark in the world of patina artistry.

"Over my career, I had the good fortune to help people launch dozens of companies. Although I didn’t consult much on the JRozario project, I had the privilege of watching as Mr. Rozario, over the course of several years, did his homework and due diligence. The difference between J.Rozario and all the others? Joshua Rozario did everything right. No exceptions. That is rare. So I requested the honor of being J.Rozario’s first paying client.
The result is an excellent, unique line of beautiful, bold, Patina-centric Goodyear Welted shoes of excellent workmanship. Priced far lower than other brands of this quality. When I ordered my first pair, the “Blaze,” the unboxing experience was sublime. Beautiful Box and packaging, a high shined pair of brogued wholecuts that I wore with no need for further finishing. The stitch count is 8spi on a unique black leather sole. The fit is perfect … I wore them all day right out of the box. And, of course, the matching belt. Even more value at the same modest price.
